5 years and counting: Redding Veterans Home celebrates Founder’s Day

Treated to the musical renderings by the Good Time Band, staff and residents at the Redding Veterans Home celebrated their fifth anniversary this past Thursday, October 25.

Home Administrator Tim Bouseman welcomed a crowd of friends and families to the Home, and introduced CalVet Assistant Deputy Secretary for Veterans Homes, Thomas Martin, who spoke to residents about the mission at CalVet and the service our agency provides in Shasta County.

Redding resident Bob Lewis then delivered an eloquent talk to the audience following a special barbecue lunch and delectable dessert bar service.

As part of the festivities, staff unveiled a memorial circular wall, which displays beautiful plaques honoring and remembering those who have lived their life out at the Home.

Former CalVet Secretary and state Senator Maurice Johannessen, Bruce Ross from Assemblyman Brian Dahle’s Office and California Highway Patrol Officer Robert Woods were also in attendance and had the chance to meet with residents and staff during the breaks.

Take a look at the video below to hear from Bouseman about the importance of Founder’s Day and what the celebration meant to him.
